Delta Aesthetic Education Institute

Crittenden Arts Council’s Delta Aesthetic Education Institute hosts a Lincoln Center National Educator Workshop July 6-10, 2009, in West Memphis, Arkansas at the West Memphis Sr. High School Performing Arts Center. Educators can discover how to unlock imaginative learning through engaging with works of art in this five-day workshop.

Other sites for Lincoln Center National and International Educator Workshop include:

  • New York City, New York (July 6-10 and July 13-17, 2009)
  • Kalamazoo, Southern Michigan/Chicago, Illinois (June 15-19, 2009)
  • Palm Desert, California (June 18-19, 2009)
  • Albany, New York (August 3 – 7, 2009)

For one week you will:

  • Attend music, theatre, or dance performances and visit museums of public art sites
  • Participate in hands-on workshops and in research focused on the works of art you will see
  • Hear lectures by guest educators, participate in discussions with working artists and experts, and debate provocative thinking on the arts, imagination and education
  • Delve into Maxine Greene’s writings
  • Learn to plan a curriculum using Lincoln Center Institute’s unique aesthetic education approach—the arts as the gateway to imaginative learning and higher order thinking skills
  • Join discussion groups and generate ideas for own work
  • Examine and invent ways to integrate imaginative teaching and learning techniques into classroom practice

Teachers may also receive graduate credit through the University of Central Arkansas. The cost is $525 per teacher (an additional fee may be paid to the University for graduate credit), and a minimum team of two teachers is required per school. Space is limited. This is a life changing opportunity not to be missed!
